Standing Guard over Eden
Red-winged blackbird Perches haughtily on sun-washed wood Crucified by exhaust and deserted perpendicular On a slice of pseudo nature sandwiched between lanes of black tar Where motorists whiz by Never noticing the Poignance, no Peril, Of one animal standing guard Over a solitary remaining swath Of Eden.
Kim M. Baker has been teaching writing in academe and business for 15 years: “Through writing, I discover myself, and I try to help others discover themselves. The best road to discovery is paved with spirituality and with humor.” Kim has been performing her poetry in Providence, RI on Tuesday night open mic at Got Poetry Live, sponsored by www.gotpoetry.com.
